The Registered Nurse focuses on safe, effective patient and family-centered care. Customer satisfaction and quality outcomes are priorities in this role. The RN is responsible for assisting in maintaining a financially stable unit. The RN promotes his/her own development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice. Education supported by a Practice Governance framework is essential. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members. Applying the caring processes of an established care model is essential. The RN is responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the plan of care. The RN focuses on patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction. The RN applies educational and professional experiences in the delivery of quality care. Mentoring and precepting staff are important responsibilities for the RN. Perform assessments and reassessments per policy and procedure or as warranted by patient condition. Demonstrate the ability to make sound independent decisions. Initiate, prioritize, and implement the plan of care and review and revise the plan as indicated. Collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary services. Utilize resources appropriately to support the needs of patients and families. Monitor and document responses to clinical interventions. Facilitate, coordinate, provide, and evaluate education specific to patient and family needs. Lead by delegating tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel. Function as a mentor or preceptor. Demonstrate, encourage, and facilitate teamwork. Identify and communicate opportunities for improvement. Participate in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts. Implement practice changes and comply with regulatory standards. Participate in the Practice Governance model.
