The nurse will work rotating shifts of 2x8 hours or 2x10 hours. Day shifts total 36 hours per week. Shifts will start between 07:00 and 19:30. The hours of operation for the PACU are 07:30 to 20:30. The nurse may be scheduled for any time within these hours. Call is required, which includes weekends and holidays. The nurse may float to other units as necessary. On-Call duties will include shifts on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday as well as holidays. The nurse will take call three shifts in a four-week period. A variety of procedures will be encountered in this unit. Skills required include, but are not limited to, airway assessment, central line care, and medication reconciliation. The nurse will care for pediatric, adolescent, and adult patients. Compliance with safety protocols is mandatory. The position may involve handling various patient diagnoses and special procedures. Interdisciplinary support is available in the unit.
