Job Title: PACU Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours (07:30 - 20:00) Experience: 2 years in PACU or ICU License: Active state RN license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIH required Must-Have: Strong 3-5 years of PACU experience/2 years of ICU experience required. Preferred: Previous charge experience. Preferred: Charting system experience. Description: This position is for a PACU Registered Nurse on day shifts. The contract duration is 13 weeks with three 12-hour shifts per week. A minimum of two years of experience in PACU or ICU is required. Candidates with strong PACU backgrounds are preferred. The position involves caring for a diverse patient age range, from pediatrics to geriatrics. Common patient diagnoses include orthopedic, neurology, cardiothoracic, vascular, general, and gynecological surgeries. The patient-to-nurse ratio is generally 1:4. Weekend work is required as scheduled, totaling two weekends per schedule cycle. Floating within the specialty is required, which may also include rotating to pre-op as needed. Following necessary protocols is expected. The ability to perform various skills such as intubation, cardiovascular care, and pain management is important. The PACU environment requires critical thinking, assessment, and monitoring of patients post-surgery. Compliance with all stated certifications is mandatory.
