Job Title: PACU Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: PACU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years required, first-time travelers accepted with strong 3-5 years of PACU experience or 2 years of ICU experience required License: Active State RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIH Must-Have: - Previous charge experience preferred - Experience with patient ratios of 4:1 - Charting system experience preferred Description: The Registered Nurse in PACU will work day shifts, scheduled for three 12-hour shifts. This role requires caring for patients in the post-anesthesia care unit. The patient age range includes pediatrics to geriatrics. Patient diagnoses include orthopedic, neurology, cardiothoracic surgery, vascular surgery, general surgery, thoracic surgery, urology, and gynecology. Navy blue scrubs are the designated uniform color. Holidays are required as they fall as scheduled. Two weekends of coverage are needed per scheduling cycle. Floating within the specialty is required, rotating with pre-operative services as necessary. Floating may also be required to other facilities as needed. On-call duties have not been implemented for this role, with a 30-day notification provided if necessary. The unit consists of 16 beds with a patient ratio of 1:4. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation. This position requires specific skills such as end-tidal CO2 monitoring, management of ventilated patients, and procedural sedation administration. Compliance with onboarding requirements and additional certification is expected. Applicants must possess demonstrated experience and relevant skills to meet the demands of this position.
