Job Title: PACU RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Post Anesthesia Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: - 2 years of PACU experience required - 2 years of ICU experience required - First-time travelers accepted with strong 3-5 years of PACU experience License: - Active state RN license required Certifications: - BLS - ACLS - PALS - NIH Must-Have: - Experience with patient ratio of 1:4 Description: The PACU RN is responsible for the care of patients recovering from anesthesia. This role includes monitoring patient vitals and managing post-operative care. Registered Nurses must demonstrate proficiency in critical care and patient assessment. The RN will provide education regarding post-operative care and discharge instructions. Floating within the specialty is required, including rotation with pre-operative units. Additional duties may include managing IV pump operations and monitoring for any complications. Weekend and holiday shifts may be required as part of the staffing model. Candidates should possess strong communication and teamwork skills. Experience with specific patient diagnoses including orthopedic, neurology, and surgery is essential. Familiarity with charting systems is preferred. The RN will work closely with an interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive patient care.
