Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Day 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 hours (07:00 - 19:30) Experience: Minimum 2 years in PACU or Critical Care License: Active nursing license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Critical care experience Inpatient experience Experience in a Level I Trauma Center Dysrhythmia recognition and management Blood product administration Phlebotomy skills IV start skills Experience with vasoactive medications Experience in caring for ventilated patients Description: This position is for an experienced registered nurse specializing in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit. The role involves working three 12-hour shifts during the day, specifically from 07:00 to 19:30. Nurses will work one day during the week of their choice and every Saturday and Sunday. No call requirements are associated with this position. The average daily census in the unit is 70-90 patients. The unit consists of 38 patient bays and is open 24/7. The patient population includes adults, occasional adolescents, and geriatric patients. The surgical patients recovered include a wide variety of specialties such as neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, and interventional radiology. This unit does not recover open-heart surgeries or liver transplants. Nurses may need to float within the PACU or preoperative units as necessary. Candidates should have experience with high acuity patients, managing artificial airways, invasive monitoring (including ICP), transfusions, and vasoactive medications. Previous experience in a Level I Trauma Center is required. This role entails working with postoperative patients requiring close monitoring and specialized care. Successful applicants will demonstrate the necessary skills and experience required for high-acuity inpatient care.
