Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar setting. The position requires flexibility in scheduling, with the potential for 10 or 12-hour shifts. Nurse to patient ratios in the unit vary from 1:1 for pediatrics or unstable patients to 2:1 for others. The unit handles various common cases, including orthopedic surgeries, OB/GYN, general surgery, urology, and endoscopy. The nursing staff is required to recover ICU patients in the PACU and assist in high-acuity cases. Nurses will be responsible for monitoring patient statuses and responding to emergency situations in compliance with established protocols. A charge nurse may take on patient assignments as needed. On-call requirements include one night shift per week and rotating weekend shifts, along with holiday coverage. Floating between preoperative and PACU phases 1 and 2 may be necessary. The dress code requires blue scrubs, and staff will change into hospital-provided scrubs during shifts.
