Certifications: Current BLS certification; ACLS certification typically required
Must-Have:
Graduation from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred by many employers.
Strong assessment, critical-thinking, communication, and emergency-response skills.
PACU, ICU, critical-care, ED, or perioperative nursing experience may be preferred depending on the facility.
Description:
Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization.
Implements and monitors patient care plans.
Monitors, records, and communicates patient conditions as appropriate.
Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
Assesses and coordinates patients' discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
Must be able to work in a stressful environment.
Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Provides specialized nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia following surgical and diagnostic procedures.
Closely monitors patients during the immediate post-anesthesia period.
Manages pain and nausea, identifies complications, and ensures patients are stable before transfer or discharge.
Previous PACU or critical-care experience is preferred.
PALS certification may be required when caring for pediatric patients.
Certification such as CPAN or CAPA is valued.
Experience with airway management, hemodynamic monitoring, and postoperative recovery is advantageous.
