Key Responsibilities

• Provide post-anesthesia recovery care for a diverse patient population including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics at a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Manage complex clinical needs including IV therapy, blood products, central/PICC line care, and IV starts
• Perform respiratory care including management of ventilated patients, chest tubes, airway management, tracheostomy, extubation, and End-Tidal CO2 monitoring
• Monitor and manage cardiac patients including dysrhythmia management, arterial lines, vasopressors, antiarrhythmics, antihypertensives, opioids, and reversal agents
• Support a broad range of surgical specialties including neurosurgery, orthopedics, ENT, bariatric, gynecology, urology, and pediatric surgery, among others
• Participate in on-call rotation, holiday coverage (at least one holiday per 13-week contract), and weekend requirements (every other weekend or six weekend shifts per six-week block); floating within skillset may be required

Required Qualifications

• Active Virginia state RN license or active Compact RN license required; pending license accepted only if candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state
• ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Minimum of one year of PACU or relevant RN experience required; first-time travelers are not accepted
• Proficiency in neuro care (craniotomy, EVD, spine surgery, stroke scale), pre/post-op procedures, and monitoring assessments (malignant hyperthermia, PCA, RASS, pain management)
• Candidates residing within 100 miles of the facility are generally considered local and not eligible; candidates residing 50-99.9 miles away may be considered for one 13-week assignment with no eligibility to extend

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience in a high-acuity or Level I Trauma Center environment
• Familiarity with pediatric patient management in a PACU or surgical setting
• Experience with a broad range of surgical specialties including neurosurgery, bariatric, and orthopedic procedures
• Comfort with on-call rotations and flexible scheduling in a fast-paced surgical environment
