Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 08:00-20:30 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: RN License Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS Must-Have: 1-2 years PACU experience minimum ICU/ER background preferred, not required Meditech experience preferred, not required Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The unit has a total of 15 beds, with 9 used as recovery bays. The remaining beds function as pre-operative areas for burn inpatients. Patient ratios are 1 nurse for every 2 patients. The unit is staffed with 7 RNs plus a Charge Nurse. 1-2 patient transporters are available during day shifts. The type of equipment includes a documentation system: Meditech. The shift schedule typically consists of 3 twelve-hour shifts or 4 ten-hour shifts with on-call duties (2 per month). Floating between PACU and other areas may be required. The department focuses on recovery from various surgical procedures, involving a unique patient population including burn, wound, and plastic surgery patients. Emergent intubations and bedside cauterizations may be performed when necessary. This is a busy, fast-paced environment offering a specialized unit experience. This position is a contractor replacement.
