Graduation from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred by many employers.
Strong assessment, critical-thinking, communication, and emergency-response skills.
Description:
Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols.
Implements and monitors patient care plans.
Monitors, records, and communicates patient conditions as appropriate.
Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must be able to work in a stressful environment.
The PACU Registered Nurse provides specialized nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia following surgical and diagnostic procedures.
Closely monitors patients during the immediate post-anesthesia period.
Manages pain and nausea, identifies complications, and ensures patients are stable before transfer or discharge.
Previous PACU or critical-care experience preferred.
PALS certification when caring for pediatric patients is preferred.
Experience with airway management, hemodynamic monitoring, and postoperative recovery is preferred.
