Description

American Traveler is hiring a PICU RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring AK RN license, 2 years of PICU experience, and PALS certification.

Details

  • PICU unit in an acute care Magnet hospital setting
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-07:00)
  • PICU ratio is 1:2, with ventilated patients typically 1:1 due to unit layout
  • Support staff includes CNAs and a med clerk; charge nurse typically does not carry patients
  • May occasionally precept PICU-training orientees while on PICU assignment
  • Floating required within scope to NICU and Peds units
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Block scheduling accommodated
  • Cerner charting system used; Epic experience preferred

Requirements

  • Active AK RN license required prior to start; compact license accepted at submission with proof of AK application in process
  • Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
  • BLS and PALS certifications required
  • NRP certification copy required with submission
  • Experience with ventilator management, central line care, and pediatric dosage calculations preferred
  • Experience with hemodynamic monitoring and dysrhythmia management preferred
  • Trauma Level II and teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred

Additional Information

  • Must be culturally sensitive to the Native population served
  • Navy scrub color required, except for L&D/OR where scrubs are provided
  • Holiday coverage required for 2 of 3 major holidays, or reduced rate applies
  • No local candidates accepted; must reside at least 100 miles from the facility
  • Previous staff must have a 2-year break in service before returning as a traveler
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • COVID vaccination acknowledgment required at time of submission
  • No changes to contract terms accepted once signed, including RTO, start dates, shifts, or bill rates
