Wellspring Nurse Source is seeking a travel nurse RN PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care for a travel nursing job in Charlottesville, Virginia.

PICU Registered Nurse (RN)

The PICU Registered Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality care to critically ill pediatric patients. This position involves working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, requiring strong clinical skills and the ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.

Contract Details

  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Start Date: October
  • Shift Options:
    • Night Shift: 3x12 Hours (19:00 - 07:00)
    • Day Shift: 3x12 Hours (07:00 - 19:00)
  • Rotating schedules
  • Working 2 out of 3 winter holidays is required
  • Three weekends are to be scheduled every six weeks
  • Time off may be requested, with a maximum of 40 hours approved
  • Time off is unavailable for the first two weeks of the contract

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to pediatric patients in the PICU.
  • Monitor patients and assess their conditions, responding to changes in status promptly.
  • Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team members to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families about care plans and treatment options.
  • Document patient care activities accurately and timely in accordance with practice standards.
  • May be required to float to NICU and Acute Care Pediatrics based on staffing needs.

Qualifications

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse.
  • BLS and PALS certifications are required.
  • Previous pediatric cardiac experience is a plus.
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments and float to different units as needed.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
