Position Details
- Position: PICU RN
- Shift: Day – 3×12 hours
- Hours: 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
- Contract: 13 weeks
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Patient Population: Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults
- Daily Census: 20
- Beds: 23
- Rooms: 23
- Charting: Epic preferred, but not required
- Local candidates: Accepted at the same rate
- Travel experience: Not required
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years experience – REQUIRED
- PICU experience – required
- 1 year experience is also listed in the job requirements.
- Trauma Level I experience – preferred
- Trauma Level II experience – preferred
- Previous charge experience – not required
Required Certifications
Copies of certifications are not required at submission, according to the posting.
License
Ohio or Compact RN license must be IN HAND at submission.
- Ohio license required at submission
- No exceptions
- Pending Ohio license is not accepted
VERY IMPORTANT – Floating
⚠️ Floating is REQUIRED.
The traveler must be willing to float to:
- Akron main campus
- Summa location
- Other competent acute-care inpatient units
- NICU
The PICU sees a broad range of patients and does not have a dedicated cardiothoracic or trauma unit. These patients are treated in the PICU.
Experience includes:
- ECMO
- CRRT
- Post-op cardiac patients
- Neurosurgery
- Ventilated patients
- PICU care
- Infection control/PPE
- Wound assessment/care
Important Facility Requirements
- BSN required for consideration
- Magnet facility
- References required; one reference is enough to submit
- No radius restriction
- RTO required
- Strict DO NOT call policy
- No limit on number of jobs that can be submitted in the system
- Prior Akron employees can return as travelers if they are not currently active employees
- Background hits should be disclosed before submission; client typically reviews/approves them.
