Job Summary:
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Registered Nurse (RN) position available in a facility setting. The role involves providing care to critically ill pediatric patients, with a focus on medical, surgical, neuro, and cardiovascular diagnoses. The position requires working 12-hour day shifts, every other weekend, with potential holiday coverage. Candidates must have at least one year of relevant experience and hold active BLS and PALS certifications.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid Active Illinois (IL) license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated, BLS (American Heart Association), PALS (American Heart Association); minimum of 1 year of pediatric intensive care experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with pediatrics in ICU settings, proficiency in reading bedside Phillips monitors, and familiarity with ventilator equipment such as Avia, Servo U, Trilogy, and LTV.
- Duties: Provide comprehensive care to pediatric patients, recognize rhythm changes on bedside monitors, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including intensivists, APPs, residents, and pediatricians. Manage patient care with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1-1:2, utilizing nurse aides and appropriate equipment.
- Additional Information: The unit is a Level 1 trauma setting with team coverage 24/7, including full staffing for float movements to PICU and lower levels of care, as well as in-house pediatricians and intensivists. The orientation includes 3-4 shifts of 12 hours each. Scrubs should be child-friendly; dress code is flexible. No float restrictions beyond PICU and lower levels. The facility operates with the EPIC charting system.
