Job Summary:
Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, en_US Located in a Level II Trauma Center, this position involves providing specialized care for pediatric patients with cardiac and postoperative needs. The role focuses on caring for patients with congenital heart defects, respiratory issues, and complex surgical recovery, predominantly within the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit setting.
Job Details:
- Position: Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit Nurse
- Shift Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Valid BLS and PALS certifications; minimum 2 years of experience in Pediatric Intensive Care Units, with at least 1 year in Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Units; experience with a diverse range of cardiovascular and thoracic diagnoses, surgeries, and procedures.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with ECMO and peritoneal dialysis is advantageous but not mandatory; EPIC electronic medical record experience preferred.
- Responsibilities: Care for a mixed patient population including neuro, cardiac, respiratory, surgical, and medical diagnoses. Responsible for ventilator and trach management, sterile technique, central line care, patient discharge, and ongoing clinical assessments. Will handle various invasive and non-invasive procedures including chest tube management, drips, and suctioning.
- Additional Information: The position includes a weekend rotation every other week. No on-call duties are required, though standby for low census may be assigned. The role involves working in a fast-paced environment caring for patients up to age 30, with a focus on cardiovascular and thoracic congenital defects, post-surgical recovery, and emerging adult patients.
