Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU position requiring PALS certification and a VA or compact license.

Details

  • Work in the Pediatric ICU (PICU) with potential float assignments to NICU and Acute Care Pediatrics based on staffing needs
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
  • 13-week assignment with 36 or 48 hour weekly schedule options
  • Requires working 3 weekends per six-week schedule
  • Requires working 2 of the 3 winter holidays
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

  • Active VA or compact RN license (pending license accepted, must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
  • BLS and PALS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • BSN preferred
  • Pediatric cardiac experience a plus
  • Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Proficiency in respiratory care including ventilator management, ETT/NT suctioning, and tracheostomy care
  • Experience with IV therapy, central line care, and blood/blood product administration
  • Experience with emergency medications, IV vasopressors, and pediatric dosage calculations
  • Cardiovascular skills including hemodynamic monitoring and dysrhythmia management
  • Experience with CRRT and peritoneal dialysis preferred
  • Neurologic skills including EVD and ICP monitoring
  • Two professional references required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients in the PICU and potentially in NICU or Acute Care Pediatrics settings
  • Float assignments will remain within scope of practice
  • Up to 16 non-billable orientation hours for specialty-specific modules, recorded in Workday
  • Maximum of 40 hours RTO per 13-week contract, all RTO must be disclosed prior to offer acceptance
  • No time off approved during the first 2 weeks of the contract
  • Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed in advance
  • Previous UVA permanent staff or traveler employment requires a 1-year separation and leadership approval
  • External travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return after reaching this limit
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
