Description

American Traveler is seeking a Pediatric ICU RN for a Days shift assignment requiring 2 years of PICU experience and vent competency.

Details

  • Pediatric ICU unit within a hospital setting
  • 12-bed unit caring for trauma, burn, neurosurgery, pediatric surgery, respiratory, sepsis, endocrinology, chronic/trach, hematology/oncology, and orthopedic patients
  • Patient ratios: ICU status 2:1, intubated 1:1, pediatric status 3:1
  • Day shift, 6:30am-7:00pm
  • Weekend hours as required by facility
  • No call requirements
  • Floating required to NICU, PICU, Pediatric medical floor, or Peds ED based on patient volumes
  • Uses EPIC EMR

Requirements

  • Active RN license eligible for licensure in Missouri or currently licensed in Missouri, or compact license
  • Current certifications: BLS, PALS (AHA only), and TNCC
  • Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
  • Vent competency required
  • At least 1 year of post-orientation experience required
  • Black scrub color required, no jeans or unprofessional attire permitted

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care for pediatric ICU patients including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care
  • Coordinate patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize outcomes and comfort
  • Maintain patient rights and confidentiality in accordance with facility standards
  • Team-oriented environment seeking flexible candidates with strong clinical expertise and communication skills
  • Physical demands include standing and walking for most of shift, pushing/pulling/gripping up to 50 lbs, and occasional kneeling, crouching, and crawling
  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption required for all travelers from November 1 to April 1, with no declinations accepted
  • Night shift staff orient on day shift and must be available for the entire orientation week
  • Level 1 Trauma & Burn Center and Level 2 Stroke Center environment
  • Up to 5 days of requested time off allowed, must be made up during the assignment
  • Local candidates accepted, with a 50-mile radius rule limiting local staff to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts before requiring a break or transfer outside the radius
  • No employment gaps of 90+ days within the past 12 months allowed
