Registered Nurse (RN) - Pediatric PACU

Job Description

The Pediatric PeriAnesthesia Unit is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality care in our 10-bed pediatric preoperative and postoperative environment, along with an additional 4-bed Pediatric Surgical Observation Unit (PSOU). The PSOU specializes in postoperative care for pediatric patients requiring overnight observation or extended recovery following surgery.

Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to pediatric patients undergoing surgical procedures.
• Monitor and manage patient vitals and recovery in both preoperative and postoperative settings.
• Administer medication and treatments as prescribed while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to create and implement individualized patient care plans.
• Provide education and support to families regarding postoperative care and recovery processes.
• Maintain accurate documentation and communication of patient progress and needs.

Qualifications

• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN). A Virginia license is acceptable pending approval.
• Certification in ACLS, BLS, and PALS is required.
• Experience in a pediatric perioperative or postoperative setting is preferred.
• Ability to work nights, including every other weekend and holiday.
• Adhere to the 50-mile radius rule for travel to the unit.

Schedule

The position requires a commitment of 13 weeks, working 3 shifts each week, with each shift lasting 12 hours from 19:00 to 07:30.

Time Off

Up to 40 hours of time off can be approved during the contract duration.
