Contract | Night Shift (3x12 Hours, 19:00–07:30) | Onsite | Every other weekend required; must work 2 out of 3 winter holidays
Key Responsibilities
- Provide pre- and post-operative nursing care to pediatric patients in a 10-bed Pediatric PeriAnesthesia Unit
- Deliver specialized postoperative care within a 4-bed Pediatric Surgical Observation Unit (PSOU) for patients requiring overnight or extended recovery up to 23 hours
- Monitor and assess pediatric patients recovering from anesthesia and surgical procedures, identifying and responding to changes in condition
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary surgical and anesthesia teams to ensure safe patient transitions through the perioperative continuum
- Float within scope of practice to support unit needs as required
Required Qualifications
- Active or pending Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia (license must be in hand prior to start date)
- Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications required
- Experience with Epic EMR required
- Nursys verification required at time of submission
- Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility (local candidates not accepted for this unit)
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Prior experience in a pediatric PACU or perioperative setting strongly preferred
