Job Requirements
This is a Pediatric Emergency Department RN contract position at Mount Sinai. The posting has several hard requirements, especially pediatric ED experience and a BSN.
Required
- RN: Must have an active New York State RN license.
- Education:BSN is mandatory — the posting specifically states “MUST HAVE BSN.”
- Pediatric ED experience:Minimum 2 years of direct Pediatric Emergency Department experience is required. This is the most important specialty requirement.
- Emergency nursing experience: At least 2 years of Emergency Medicine experience is listed, with adult and/or pediatric experience, but the schedule note specifically requires 2 years of direct pediatric ED experience.
- Certifications:
- Epic: Epic experience is highly preferred, particularly for travelers.
- Shift:7:00 PM–7:30 AM night shift.
- Guaranteed hours:34.5 hours/week.
- Travel experience:1 year of travel experience is highly preferred, particularly for candidates with Epic experience.
- Clinical competency: Must be capable of providing safe, evidence-based emergency nursing care, including assessment, critical thinking, prioritization, medication administration, patient/family education, care coordination, and documentation.
- Charge responsibilities: Must be able to perform charge nurse duties when assigned.
- Patient throughput: Must be able to facilitate ED patient flow and coordinate resources during the shift.
- Quality/safety: Expected to participate in quality improvement, evidence-based practice, nursing research, safety initiatives, and regulatory compliance.
