CVPICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled CVPICU Registered Nurse to join our team in a pediatric cardiology intensive care unit (PCICU). This is an excellent opportunity to work in a “Gold” Beacon Award-winning unit recognized for outstanding outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive care for patients with congenital heart disease, including those requiring cardiac surgery and medical management.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring the highest standards of patient care.
  • Monitor patients' progress and respond to changes in condition, implementing appropriate interventions.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including respiratory therapists, dietitians, and pharmacists, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Educate patients and families on care plans and procedures to empower their understanding and involvement in treatment.

Schedule

  • Work schedule consists of three 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
  • Weekend shifts are required; a total of four weekend shifts in a four-week schedule.
  • Participation in holiday rotation is expected.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of Pediatric Cardiac ICU experience.
  • Experience with cardiovascular and pediatric care is required.
  • Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) experience is highly preferred.
  • Current RN License in South Carolina or multi-state/compact license.
  • Certifications: PALS and BLS are required (must be from the American Heart Association).
  • ACLS certification is preferred (must be from the American Heart Association).

Unit Information

The PCICU is a 29-bed unit, serving as the referral center for all major pediatric cardiac surgeries in the region. The average daily census is 26 patients, treated for a variety of cardiac surgical and medical diagnoses. The unit provides advanced therapies including ECMO, CRRT, and supportive care for patients with complex needs.

  • Staffing includes Registered Nurses, Patient Care Technicians, and Unit Secretaries.
  • All beds in the unit are monitored for optimal patient safety.
  • Parking arrangements include a $20 registration fee for a parking permit.
