Description

Job Opportunity – Pediatric PACU Registered Nurse – Wisconsin

Start Date: September 28, 2026

Location: Madison, Wisconsin

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Evening/Night shifts with 8, 10, or 12-hour options. Shift times include 7:00pm-7:30am or 11:00pm-7:30am with flexibility. Monday-Friday OR Sunday-Thursday schedules available with no on-call requirements. 24-hour orientation provided.

Highlights:

  • Provide peri-anesthetic management for complex pediatric surgical and procedural patients in a specialized children's hospital setting
  • Work with a comprehensive pediatric medical and surgical center featuring nationally recognized specialists
  • Care for diverse patient populations including neonates, infants, children, and adolescents across multiple specialties
  • Epic EMR system utilized throughout facility
  • Level I Pediatric Trauma Center experience with access to full interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
  • Average daily census of 25 patients with Phase I and Phase II recovery responsibilities

Requirements:

  • Active Wisconsin RN license or valid Compact state license
  • Minimum 2 years of pediatric PACU experience required
  • Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in specialty
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Level I Trauma Center experience required
  • Current BLS and PALS certifications (American Heart Association only)
  • Must successfully pass facility telemetry examination prior to start date with strict passing criteria
  • Previous travel experience required
  • Charge experience preferred
  • Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
  • Must reside 50 miles or more from facility location

Clinical Skills Include:

  • Management of pediatric patients across all age groups in pre/post operative settings
  • Airway management including placement of oral/nasal airways and extubation
  • Dysrhythmia recognition and emergency medication administration
  • Blood product administration and IV vasopressor management
  • Central line, arterial line, and PICC line care and management
  • PCA pump management and pain assessment protocols
  • Experience with multiple surgical specialties including neuro, ortho/spine, ENT, general, and robotics
  • Ventilated patient care and arterial blood gas interpretation
