Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Pediatric Acute Duration: 15 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Active Illinois license required Certifications: BLS, PALS Must-Have: - Ability to provide care for medical/surgical pediatric patients - Understanding of patient ratios and teamwork dynamics - Familiarity with the pediatric acute care environment - Strong communication skills with both patients and families Description: This position involves providing nursing care in a pediatric acute care setting. Nurses will be responsible for a patient ratio of 4 patients per nurse. Common diagnoses include hyperbilirubinemia, neurological conditions, diabetes, failure to thrive, cystic fibrosis, and orthopedic issues. Nurses will work closely with pediatric patients and their families. Pediatric hospitalists provide in-house support until midnight, with resident coverage available 24/7. Heated high flow and Bipap equipment will be used, with specific parameters in place for troubleshooting. Monitoring technology is employed, and a dedicated monitor tech will oversee patient telemetry. Nurses will float within the children's hospital to various pediatric units and may assist with newborn care as needed. Shifts are 12 hours in duration, either from 0700-1930 or 1900-0730. Every other weekend and holiday coverage is required. Nurses must comply with the dress code, wearing scrubs that are pediatric appropriate. Unit-specific orientation will be provided, with the possibility of an extended orientation based on management approval.
