Description

Job Opportunity – Pediatric PACU Registered Nurse – Wisconsin

Start Date: September 28, 2026

Location: Madison, Wisconsin

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Evening/Night shifts with 8, 10, or 12-hour options. Shifts available 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM or 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM with flexibility. Monday through Friday OR Sunday through Thursday schedules available with no on-call requirement. Call coverage on weeknights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

  • Provide peri-anesthetic care to complex pediatric surgical and procedural patients in a state-of-the-art children's hospital
  • Work with nationally recognized pediatric specialists in a Magnet-designated facility
  • Manage diverse case load including neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, and adults across multiple specialties
  • Epic EMR system utilized throughout the facility
  • Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
  • 24 hours of orientation provided with ongoing professional development opportunities

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of pediatric PACU experience required
  • Previous travel experience required
  • Acute care experience within the last 3 years in specialty required
  • Wisconsin RN license or compact state RN license (pending Wisconsin license accepted with submission)
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Current BLS and PALS certifications (American Heart Association only)
  • Must successfully pass telemetry competency exam prior to start date (80% passing score required; 100% accuracy on lethal rhythms and 3rd-degree heart blocks)
  • Level I Trauma Center experience required
  • Charge nurse experience preferred
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
  • Willingness to float as needed

Patient Care Details:

  • Patient age groups: Neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, and adults
  • Daily census approximately 25 patients
  • Phase I and Phase II PACU recovery
  • Comprehensive surgical specialties including ENT, orthopedic/spine, neurosurgery, general surgery, urology, plastics, ophthalmology, and gynecology
  • Advanced skills utilized: ventilator management, arterial line management, central line care, chest tube management, dysrhythmia recognition, IV vasopressor administration, and pain management protocols

Vaccination Requirements:

  • COVID-19 vaccine not required
  • Influenza vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
