Description:

Work schedule includes two 8-hour shifts and two 10-hour shifts per week.
In the PACU, start times fluctuate between 0730 and 0830, with Thursdays always starting at 0830.
The patient population served includes a variety of cases.
Short procedures include EGDs, BMTTs, MRIs, T&As, DLBs, and more.
Bigger cases involve Pectus Excavatum repair, spinal fusions, cardiac caths, EVDs, breast reductions, and ortho procedures.
Focus areas include airway management, scoring using the Modified Aldrete Score, assessment and vital signs, medication administration, and discharge teaching.
Phase 1 involves one-on-one care with patients, monitoring every 15 minutes.
Phase 2 consists of one-on-one care or one RN to four patients in stepdown, with monitoring at least every hour to prepare for discharge.
Communication with anesthesiologists involves managing medication orders, signouts, and assisting with urgent needs.
Surgeons manage discharge orders, instructions, wound issues, and radiology orders.
