Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Travel Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team in Portales, New Mexico. This role is pivotal in delivering exceptional patient care across Med-Surg and Step Down units, catering to a diverse patient population that includes pediatric, geriatric, and general adult patients.
The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting comprehensive patient assessments, developing and executing individualized care plans, and providing a wide range of treatments and services within their scope of practice. This position emphasizes a patient-centered approach, requiring strong clinical judgment, effective communication, and seamless collaboration with an interdisciplinary team.
This 13-week contract offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse to contribute their expertise to a dynamic clinical environment while further developing their professional skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive head-to-toe and age-specific patient assessments, and conduct reassessments according to policy.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans, adjusting interventions based on patient response to treatment.
- Administer treatments and provide nursing services in accordance with professional standards and licensure.
- Assist physicians with various procedures requiring technical and manual skills.
- Assess and manage patient pain effectively, providing education to patients and families on pain management strategies.
- Formulate and deliver patient and family education plans based on identified learning needs, evaluating the effectiveness of teaching.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and complete documentation of all patient care activities in compliance with current standards and policies.
- Communicate clearly and appropriately with Nurse Managers, co-workers, and physicians to ensure coordinated care.
- Consult with other departments as appropriate to facilitate an interdisciplinary approach to patient needs.
- Coordinate and supervise patient care activities as necessary and within the scope of licensure.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold the dignity and respect of all patients and their families.
- Identify and address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and families, acting as a liaison between various stakeholders.
- Manage and operate medical equipment safely and correctly.
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Demonstrated experience in Med-Surg, Step Down, and/or Pediatric care settings.
- Ability to provide care appropriate to the condition and age of a diverse patient population, including pediatric, geriatric, and general adult patients.
