Description

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care on a 36-bed pediatric step down unit, managing a mixed patient population including step down and basic care patients
  • Care for patients with conditions including spinal fusions, chest tubes, and high flow oxygen needs; note that CPAP, BiPAP, trach, and vent patients are not managed on this unit
  • Perform unit procedures including NGT insertion, Foley catheterization, TP tube management, PIV placement, and phlebotomy; occasional LP assistance may be required
  • Utilize Phillips Monitors and document patient care using the Meditech EMR
  • Collaborate with charge nurses, PCTs/CNAs, and Clinical Nurse Coordinators as part of a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Adhere to patient ratio guidelines: step down patients staffed 1:3 and basic care patients staffed 1:4
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 year of current Pediatric RN experience (required; candidates without this experience will not be considered)
  • Active RN license applicable to the state of Colorado
  • BLS certification (required)
  • NRP certification (required)
  • Demonstrated comfort and competency with high flow oxygen, spinal fusion care, and chest tube management
  • First-time travelers (first contract) are not eligible for day shift placement; must be willing to work night shift if this is a first travel contract
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Prior experience with Meditech EMR
  • Multiple years of travel nursing experience (candidates with extensive travel experience are given first consideration)
