Description

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to pediatric medical surgical and hematology/oncology patients ranging in age from 0-17 years
  • Administer chemotherapy as part of the care plan for oncology patients
  • Utilize unit systems including PYXIS, EPIC, and SBAR for documentation and medication management
  • Float to PICU and NICU as needed based on unit staffing requirements
  • Participate in self-scheduling within unit guidelines, including working every other weekend
  • Complete hospital orientation during week one, with availability required for classes each day; unit orientation is approximately 24 hours total
Required Qualifications
  • Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license (pending license acceptable for submission)
  • Minimum of 2 years of Registered Nurse experience required
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required
  • Ability and willingness to administer chemotherapy
  • Local candidates are welcome; candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility should be aware that a lower rate applies
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Experience with IV starts and lab draws
  • Prior chemotherapy experience and chemotherapy certification preferred
  • Familiarity with pediatric hematology/oncology patient populations
