Pediatric Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN)

The Pediatric Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing high-quality care to pediatric and adolescent patients with complex medical conditions. This role encompasses the management of patients recovering from traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injuries, gunshot wounds, motor vehicle accidents, burns, and various feeding and developmental disorders. The ideal candidate will possess the necessary clinical skills and knowledge to support a diverse patient population.

Job Details

  • Shift: 3x12 Hour Rotating (Day/Night)
  • Hours: 07:00 - 19:30 / 19:00 - 07:30
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Holiday Requirement: As scheduled

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to pediatric patients with varying diagnoses, including but not limited to traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and post-orthopedic surgical patients.
  • Manage patients requiring respiratory support including tracheostomy and ventilator care.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to facilitate effective treatment plans, including speech, occupational, and physical therapy.
  • Monitor and assess patient progress, adjusting care plans as necessary to meet individual needs.
  • Administer medications and treatments per established protocols and document all nursing care accurately.
  • Participate in patient education and support families throughout the care process.
  • Adapt to floating requirements within the specialty area as well as other departments as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Maryland.
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required.
  • Pediatric nursing experience is preferred.
  • Prior experience with trach and ventilator management is essential.
  • BLS certification is required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle a diverse patient population.
