Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Pediatric Operating Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day 4x10-Hour Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in pediatric operating room License: RN License Certifications: BLS, PALS Must-Have: Proficiency working within the operating room; pediatric experience required Description: The main operating room manager is looking for candidates with pediatric experience. The level of acuity in this operating room is high. A valid RN license is required. BLS and PALS certifications are mandatory. Short call duty may be required up to 3 times every 6 weeks from 5:15 PM to 7:15 PM. Up to 4 off shifts may be assigned every 6 weeks. One weekend shift and one weekend call are required every 6 weeks. Holiday shift and call coverage will be needed as determined by the unit. Typically, travelers will only be assigned about three short call shifts in a 6-week block. Most travelers will work 7 AM to 5 PM, with short call shifts being from 5 PM to 7 PM, based on department demand. The charge nurse will notify staff before their shift ends regarding potential short-call requirements. Previous charge experience in a pediatric operating room is preferred. Experience with trauma level I care is required, and level II experience is preferred. Travel experience is beneficial. Special skills required include cleft lip/cleft palate repair, pediatric general operating room procedures, and tonsillectomy/adenoid surgery. This role will involve caring for neonates, infants, children, and adolescents. Interdisciplinary support is available within the unit, including respiratory services, interpretation services, and more. High acuity patient diagnoses will be encountered.
