Key Responsibilities
- Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of pediatric patients, delivering competent and compassionate nursing care
- Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; notes all changes in physician orders
- Obtains and monitors physiological data, observes patient manifestations, and intervenes when necessary
- Administers medications as prescribed; initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products
- Assists physicians during patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures and treatments
- Interacts with patients and families to communicate care plans, hospital procedures, and discharge instructions; delegates tasks to support staff as appropriate
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program
- Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- PALS certification (American Heart Association)
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures; strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher from a Board Approved Program
- Experience working in a pediatric or critical care setting
- Ability to respond effectively to the cultural and language needs of patients and visitors
