Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Every other weekend required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to a critically ill pediatric population including infants, adolescents, and young adults in a high-acuity PICU setting with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1–2
- Perform and manage ventilator management, CVVH, vaccine administration, and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
- Document patient care accurately using EPIC electronic health records
- Float within skillset to related units including NICU, Pediatric Stepdown, Intermediate Care, Med/Surg mix, and Pediatric Hematology Oncology Clinic as needed
- Participate in holiday coverage rotation, which may include working or providing on-call coverage for 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's)
Required Qualifications
- Active New Jersey RN license or Compact RN license required at time of submission
- ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 2.5 years of acute care experience
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records required
- Ability and willingness to float to all assigned pediatric units without exception
- Local candidates are welcome and accepted
Preferred Experience / Skills
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Experience with complex pediatric medical and surgical cases, including congenital heart disease, post-operative cardiothoracic patients, respiratory failure, sepsis, and trauma
- First-time travelers are accepted for this position
