Registered Nurse – NICU-Based Float Pool (PICU/Peds/NBN)

Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (19:00–08:00) | Expected 37.5 hours/week | Every other weekend required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care within a NICU-based float pool, with required floating to PICU, Pediatrics, and Newborn Nursery; an appropriate patient assignment based on skill set will be provided when floated
- Perform IV therapy and medication administration including A-line management, Central Line/Implanted Line Care, UAC/UVC, IV vasopressors, steroids, and surfactants
- Manage cardiac and respiratory needs including dysrhythmia interpretation/management and ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)
- Provide GI and neurological care including feedings (bottle, breast, gavage), placement and management of oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tubes, and care for patients with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome
- Document all patient care accurately using EPIC electronic health records
- Provide on-call or shift coverage for 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's) as required by unit/department
Required Qualifications
- Active New Jersey RN license or Compact license required at time of submission
- Required certifications: BLS, NRP, and PALS
- Minimum 1.5 years of experience; documented NICU Level III and PICU experience must be reflected in employment history
- Proficiency with EPIC charting system required
- Willingness and ability to float across units without exception
- Local candidates are welcome and accepted
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience in a high-acuity Level III NICU and/or PICU setting at a regional perinatal or teaching hospital
- Familiarity with care of premature and critically ill neonates and pediatric patients
- Experience working in a float pool or multi-unit environment
