    Job Title

    Registered Nurse (RN) – Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) – Nights

    Location

    Des Moines, IA | Acute Care / Pediatric Intensive Care

    Contract | Night Shift | Onsite

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide direct nursing care to critically ill or injured infants, children, and adolescents in a 12-bed, all private-room Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
    • Monitor patients efficiently using state-of-the-art equipment, including ventilators, high-flow oxygen systems, and IV/feeding pumps
    • Collaborate with a pediatric critical care physician-led team to deliver patient- and family-centered care
    • Float to NICU (caring for "feeders and growers" level patients), General Pediatrics, and ED patient holds as needed — willingness to float is required
    • Participate in holiday coverage as required; contractors are expected to work 1–2 of the upcoming Summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed
    • Document and manage patient care using the EPIC EMR system
    Required Qualifications
    • Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license at time of submission
    • Minimum 24 months of current PICU / Pediatric Intensive Care Unit experience
    • BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
    • PALS certification (AHA) required
    • Proficiency with EPIC EMR required
    • Willingness and ability to float to NICU, General Pediatrics, and ED patient holds as needed
    • Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible (based on driver's license)
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Experience with ventilators and high-flow oxygen equipment
    • Experience with Alaris IV pumps and feeding pumps
    • Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months
    • PICU-specific skills checklist completed and on file
