Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a 9-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1–2 (PICU) and 1:2–3 (Stepdown)
- Perform and assist with procedures including IV starts, catheterizations, LP holds, central line dressing changes, and trach care
- Manage hemodynamic monitoring, ICP monitoring, ventilator management, and tube feeding and placement
- Document patient care accurately using Cerner electronic health records
- Operate Alaris infusion pumps and other unit-specific equipment
- Float to Pediatrics and NICU as needed per unit floating policy
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in North Carolina or compact state eligibility
- Minimum 1 year of PICU experience required; 2+ years preferred
- Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification required
- Proficiency with Cerner documentation system
- Ability to work 3 weekends within every 6-week scheduling cycle
Preferred Experience / Skills
- 2 or more years of PICU nursing experience
- Familiarity with Alaris pump systems and hemodynamic or ICP monitoring
- Prior travel nursing experience in a pediatric critical care setting
