Description

Job Title: RN - PICU Profession: RN Specialty: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Duration: 26 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of strong high acuity Pediatric ICU experience. License: RN Certifications: BLS, PALS Must-Have: - Comfortable in a high acuity, fast-paced environment. - EPIC experience. - Experience with Artic Sun, EVDs, Camino device, Belmont Rapid Infuser, and management of critical care vasoactive drip titration. - Management of invasive lines, aseptic and sterile techniques, basic dressing changes, ventilator and trach management. - HOFV management, oral/nasal suctioning, g-tube/j-tube management, feeding tubes, chest tubes, epidurals, PCAs, and sedation and analgesic drip management. - Foley insertion and management, Alaris & Medfusion pump management, bedside procedures with providers, and discharge skills. - CRRT experience. - Ability/competency to float to Pediatric CVICU if discussed during the interview. Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in Pediatric Intensive Care. It requires working in an environment with 24 licensed beds. The unit operates with an average patient census of 21-23. The patient population includes those with respiratory issues, trauma, DKA, seizures, neurosurgical cases, acute/chronic renal failure, orthopedic problems, surgical cases, transplants, complex medical conditions, and blood disorders. Patient ratios vary based on acuity, with ratios of 1:1, 2:1, or 1:2. Support within the department includes a healthcare technician per shift, a unit secretary, a charge nurse, phlebotomy services, an IV/VAT team, and 24/7 access to resource nurses, respiratory therapists, intensivists, residents, and advanced practice providers. The unit utilizes centralized and bedside telemetry monitoring. Technology used includes an electronic medical record system, various IV pumps, and medical dispensing equipment. The RN may float to Pediatric CVICU, NICU, Neonatal PCU, or general Pediatric units as needed. Weekend rotation is required, with a schedule involving working two Fridays, two Saturdays, two Sundays, and two Mondays every six weeks. Travelers may work 75% of holidays, which include the evening and day of every other holiday while contracted. Requesting time off requires manager approval.
