Job Opportunity – Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Registered Nurse – Texas

Start Date: November 16, 2026

Location: Lubbock, Texas

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week with self-scheduling flexibility. Shifts may be scheduled consecutively or split throughout the week. Weekend rotation required with variable frequency. No on-call requirement.

Highlights:

  • Work at a 181-bed children's hospital designated as a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center
  • Care for diverse patient populations including neonates, infants, children, and adolescents in an 18-bed PICU with average daily census of 15
  • Maintain 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratios across all shifts for optimal patient care delivery
  • Utilize Epic charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, pharmacy, physical therapy, and rapid response teams
  • One-year contract opportunity welcoming first-time travelers with 36 hours of structured orientation
  • Float opportunities to Pediatric Med/Surg and NICU units to expand clinical experience
  • Free parking provided in unrestricted spaces with bike rack availability

Requirements:

  • Minimum one year of PICU nursing experience required
  • Active RN license (Compact license accepted and must be in hand at submission)
  • Current BLS and PALS certifications required
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Experience with 1:2 patient ratios
  • Proficiency in core PICU skills including ventilator management, central line care, high flow nasal cannula, hemodynamic monitoring, BiPAP/CPAP management, continuous sedation, IV vasopressors, interpretation of ABGs and dysrhythmias, chest tube management, and telemetry monitoring
  • Two professional references covering one year of experience within the last three years
  • Commitment to work three of five major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
