# Job Opportunity – Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Nurse – Western North Carolina

Start Date: July 30, 2026

Location: Asheville, North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Three weekends required per 6-week schedule; self-scheduling available; shift-based coverage for a 9-bed unit

Highlights:
  • Provide critical care in a dedicated 9-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit within the region's only children's hospital
  • Manage complex cases including hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, ICP monitoring, central line care, and advanced PICU procedures
  • Patient ratios of 1:1 to 1:2 in PICU; stepdown ratios of 1:2 to 1:3
  • Use Cerner EMR and Alaris pump technology in a Magnet-designated facility

  • Opportunity to float to Pediatrics and NICU for skill development and variety
Requirements:
  • Active RN license in North Carolina (or compact state license)
  • Minimum 1 year of PICU experience required
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification required
  • Proficiency in IV starts, catheterization, central line care, trach care, tube feeding, and ventilator management
