Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years of Pediatric Cardiac ICU experience License: Valid South Carolina or Multi-State/Compact RN license required Certifications: PALS, BLS required; ACLS preferred Must-Have: Ventricular Assist Device experience is highly preferred. First-timers accepted. Description: The Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit is a 29-bed unit. It is a referral center for all major pediatric cardiac surgeries. The average daily census is 26 patients with cardiac surgical and medical diagnoses. Patients with congenital heart disease of any age are cared for based on their needs. Common procedures include cardiac surgery, heart transplant, and cardiac catheterization. The unit provides advanced therapies, including ECMO and CRRT, along with palliative care as needed. The team consists of Registered Nurses, Patient Care Technicians, and Unit Secretaries. Supportive services are available, including Respiratory Therapy, Dietitians, and Pharmacists. All beds in the unit are monitored. Successful candidates must be able to float within the scope to meet facility needs. Staffing ratios are primarily 1:1 or 1:2, depending on patient acuity. Weekend shifts of 4 in a 4-week schedule and holiday rotation are required. RTO must be provided at the time of submission. Local candidates will be considered, yet non-local candidates will be prioritized. Previous permanent staff must be separated for one year before returning as travelers.
