Registered Nurse – IMC/PCU/Stepdown

Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (19:00–07:30) | Every Other Weekend Required | Up to 3 additional 12-hour on-call shifts per week
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in an IMC/PCU/Stepdown unit within a Level 4 Trauma, Short Term Acute Care facility
- Manage patient ratios of 1:5 on nights and 1:4–5 on weekends across Medical/Surgical and Step-Down Care Unit settings
- Operate and monitor patients using specialized equipment including Nihon Kohden cardiac monitors/telemetry, Welch Allyn bedside vitals machines, and HiFlow/CPAP/BiPAP devices
- Document patient care accurately using Epic/Excellian electronic health records
- Occasionally care for pediatric patients as unit needs require
- Respond to on-call assignments as scheduled, up to 3 additional 12-hour shifts per week
Required Qualifications
- Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license — Minnesota license in hand required (no pending licenses accepted)
- Minimum 1 year of strong acute care Stepdown/PCU experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required
- Epic/Excellian charting experience required
- Must be available to work every other weekend
- Requests for time off are limited to no more than 5 days per assignment
- Must live more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Charge Nurse experience preferred
- Ventilator (vent) management experience preferred
- Familiarity with Nihon Kohden cardiac monitoring systems and HiFlow/CPAP/BiPAP equipment
- Experience caring for pediatric patients in an acute care setting
