**Exciting Opportunity for a Registered Nurse - PCU (642) - 13 Weeks - Night Shift!**
**Job Description:**
- **Unit Overview:**
- Location: Heart Hospital of Austin
- Floors: 2nd and 3rd floor
- Number of Beds: 52 PCU, 6 IMC, 14 CVICU (shared unit)
- Staff Composition: Approximately 80 RNs and 40 PCTs
- **Unit Specifics:**
- Night Shift:
- 2 Free Charges, Resource RN, 13 RNs, 5 PCTs
- All charges are free charges with no patient assignment
- House Supervisor available on the 3rd floor
- **Patient Ratios:**
- Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:5
- PCTs take 7-15 patients with a free PCT lead
- **Equipment:**
- Welch Allyn vital sign machines
- GE EKG machines
- Pyxis machines
- PCs and in-room monitors
- Philips remote tele boxes
- Stat strip (nova) glucometers
- **Electronic Medical Records:**
- Meditech
- **What We Are Looking For:**
- Must have:
- Cardiology experience (open hearts, heart failure, post Cath lab, valve patients)
- 2+ years of experience
- Preferred:
- LVAD experience
- Proficiency in Meditech
- **Typical Procedures on Unit:**
- Cardioversions and Radiologist guided thoracentesis
- Care for patients with advanced heart failure, LVAD placements, open heart surgeries, etc.
- Procedures available: Watchman’s, Cath lab, EP (pacemakers, ablations), and readmissions
- **Ideal Candidate Personality:**
- Team-oriented and supportive of colleagues
- Committed to following unit policies and procedures
- Focused on patient safety with an emphasis on falls and skin care
- **Dress Code:**
- Scrub color: Navy blue
- Non-acceptable attire: No fleece jackets
