**Job Description**

- Unit: E4 - Cardiovascular Progressive Care (CVPC)

**Unit Information:**
- **Primary Patient Population:**
- CV surgery (CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR)
- Vascular surgery (AAA, fem-pop bypass)
- Overflow medical cardiology patients (heart failure, DKA, chest pain)
- **Number of Beds:** 40 cardiac surgery stepdown beds
- **Staff:** Approximately 100 dedicated professionals
**Daily Operations:**
- **Team Composition:**
- Day Shift: 1 Charge RN, 13 RNs, 4 PCTs, 1.33 HUC
- Night Shift: 1 Charge RN, 13 RNs, 4 PCTs, 0.33 HUC
- **Patient Ratios:**
- 1:5 patients per RN
- 1:13 for PCTs
- **Technology & Equipment:**
- Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, patient lifts
- EMR: Cerner
**Ideal Candidate Profile:**
- **Must Have Skills:**
- Minimum 2 years stepdown and telemetry experience
- **Preferred Skills:**
- Experience with CV surgery/vascular surgery populations
- CVICU experience
**Typical Procedures Performed:**
- Epidural management
- Chest tube management
- Tube feedings
- IV gluccomander
- Cardiac medication management (e.g., dobutamine, amiodarone)
**Personality Fit:**
- Team player with a passion for patient care
- Enjoys a fast-paced work environment
- Flexible and adaptable to changing needs
**Required Certifications:**
- ACLS and BLS
**Floating Areas:**
- Any Stepdown or Medical Surgical unit, ER inpatient holding area
**Dress Code:**
- All navy, white tops/navy bottoms or all white
**Weekend Requirements:**
- Minimum of 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday) per 6-week schedule
