Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg/PCU/Tele

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Med Surg/PCU/Tele unit. This role focuses on providing high-quality patient care in a stepdown setting, specializing in neuro trauma cases.

Shift Details

• Shift: Nights (1900 to 0730)
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend and holiday is required

Unit Information

• Overview: 28 beds, with a nurse-patient ratio of 1:4-5 during days and 1:5-6 during nights, depending on patient acuity.
• Common Diagnoses: Neuro focus including strokes, seizures, Guillain-Barre syndrome, Myasthenia gravis, spinal injuries, thrombectomies, and trauma-related injuries such as hematomas.
• Equipment: Vents, Trachs, CPAP, BiPAP, Vapo Therm, ETCO2.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to a diverse patient population.
• Administer medications and monitor vital signs.
• Titrate drips as needed, including Heparin, Nitro, Diltiazem, Amiodarone, and Insulin.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Participate in patient education and discharge planning.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of Medical-Surgical, PCU, or ICU nursing experience.
• Current BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required.
• Experience with tracheostomies and ventilators is essential; willingness to learn and adapt is required.
• Must have drip administration experience.
• First-time travelers are encouraged to apply.

Additional Information

• Self-scheduling is available, with shifts posted 6 weeks in advance.
• Floating to sister MS units may be required.
• Scrub Color: Solid color scrubs are permitted.
• Orientation includes 1 shift of general orientation and 1 shift with a preceptor.
