Registered Nurse (RN) - IMC/Tele

Job Overview

This position is for a Registered Nurse in a stepdown unit focusing on cardiac, telemetry, and dialysis patients. The RN will provide care in a fast-paced environment, ensuring the highest standards of patient management for individuals post cardiac procedures and surgeries.

Shift Details

• Evening shifts from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM
• Working a minimum of 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend and holiday rotation
• Optional 36-hour workweek availability

Unit Information

• Unit: 3N MS/IMC RN
• Number of Beds: 29
• Nurse to Patient Ratios:
  • 1:4 on days until 11:00 PM
  • 1:5-6 on nights after 11:00 PM
• Common Diagnoses:
  • Cardiac medical and surgical cases
  • Post-cath lab patients (stent, pacemaker, ICD, etc.)
  • Post-cardiac surgery cases (CABG, valve replacements, atrial fibrillation, chest pain, CHF, arrhythmias)

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care, including assessments and monitoring.
• Titrate drips as needed (no vasopressors).
• Manage post-procedural care for cardiac patients.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to deliver optimal patient treatments.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of recent RN experience in a busy hospital environment.
• Experience with post-procedural cardiac lab patients.
• Proficient in managing TR band compression devices and chest pain.
• Required Certifications:
  • ACLS
  • BLS

Unit Support

• 24/7 central telemetry unit available for monitoring non-critical care patients.
• Nurse Aides available with a support ratio of 1:10 on days and 1:15 at night.
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7 for treatments such as nebulizers and CPAP assistance.

Scheduling

• No self-scheduling; block scheduling is possible if it aligns with unit needs.
• Weekend and holiday work is required on an alternating basis.
• Floating may be necessary based on unit census.

Orientation

New hires will receive one shift of HR onboarding followed by one shift of unit-specific orientation.
