TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Canton, Ohio.

Unit: 4 South — 26-bed respiratory stepdown unit
 

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience
  • Active Ohio or compact RN license
  • BLS
  • Trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts and high-flow oxygen experience
  • Experience with amiodarone, Cardizem, Lasix, Bumex and dobutamine drips
  • First-time travelers accepted

Schedule and patient care

  • Ratio: 1:4–5, based on acuity
  • Patients: COPD, pneumonia, sepsis, pulmonary embolism, GI bleeds, ventilator support and general overflow
  • Therapies: Continuous IV medications and maintenance inotropic therapy for cardiac or renal conditions
  • Floating: Same-level PCU assignments; notified at the beginning of the shift
  • Shifts: 7 a.m.–7 p.m. or 7 p.m.–7 a.m.
  • Weekends: Every 3rd weekend
  • Holidays: Every other holiday
  • On-call: None
  • RTO: Approved during the interview
  • Scheduling: Eight-week schedules posted 2 weeks in advance

Orientation and other details

  • Day 1: 7 a.m.–7 p.m.; 4 hours of onboarding/education and 8 hours with a nurse
  • Day 2: 12 hours with a nurse on the contracted shift
  • Day 3: First independent shift
  • Charting: Cerner
  • Equipment: Alaris pumps, Omnicell, Philips monitors, Hoyer, Sara Stedy and Sara Flex lifts
  • Scrubs: Ceil blue
  • Parking: Free
