Job Details
- Position: Step Down Unit Nurse
- Schedule: Nights shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum 48 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Valid IL license or confirmation that application has been initiated; active ACLS (American Heart Association), BLS (American Heart Association), NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certifications; minimum of 2 years minimum experience in step down or related unit; able to read telemetries, comfortable with chest tubes, and proficient with EMR systems such as EPIC.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with acute inpatient care, ICU experience, and ability to float to ICU or general medicine floors.
- Additional Responsibilities: Care for patients with conditions such as COPD, CHF, sepsis, renal failure, DKA, overdoses, pneumonia, and neuro/surgical/cardiac issues. Utilizes equipment including ventilators (BiPAP, CPAP), chest tubes, NG tubes, PICC lines, and dialysis. Orientation consists of a one-day education with the team and a one-day floor orientation. Travel RNs are first to float and may be assigned to ICU if experienced.
- Submission Requirements: Last four digits of SSN, active IL license or application proof, understanding of drug-free campus policy requiring negative drug screen.
