Job Summary:
Step Down Unit Nurse in Morgantown, West Virginia. This position involves providing specialized care to post-operative cardiac, vascular, and cardiology patients in a private, high-acuity setting. The role emphasizes teamwork, patient-centered care, and adherence to clinical protocols, with a focus on quality and safety.

Job Details:

  • Shift: Nights, three 12-hour shifts, with weekends and holidays as scheduled
  • Schedule: 12-hour night shifts; minimum of 48 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Nursing or higher; active RN license; minimum of 2 years of current step down or cardiac/vascular experience; certifications in BLS and ACLS; location outside 50 miles from the facility; must have a valid driver's license; willingness to wait for license submission

  • Additional Information:
    • Unit includes 32 beds with all private rooms, staffing includes a charge nurse and house supervisors available 24/7
    • Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1 RN: 3 patients (stepdown), 1 RN: 6 patients (floor)
    • Clinical associates provide care with a ratio of 1:8-10 patients, aiming for 4-5 associates per shift
    • Equipment includes Cpap, Bipap, Hi-flow oxygen delivery systems
    • RNs read cardiac strips, with CMTs interpreting all strips on the unit
    • Floating to sister units within the Heart and Vascular Institute may be required
    • Scrub color: solid royal blue and white
    • Unit emphasizes excellent patient care within a collaborative teamwork environment
