Step Down Registered Nurse (RN)

Overview

Seeking an experienced Step Down Registered Nurse to provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced healthcare environment. This position involves monitoring and managing patients recovering from cardiovascular surgeries and procedures. The nurse will be responsible for assessing patient conditions, administering medications, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the step-down unit with a focus on cardiovascular surgery recovery.
• Monitor vital signs, perform assessments, and document changes in patients' conditions.
• Administer medications as prescribed and ensure accurate dosage and medication management.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement patient-centered care plans.
• Educate patients and their families on post-operative care and health maintenance.
• Participate in departmental meetings and continuous improvement efforts to enhance patient care.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 12 months of permanent nursing experience in the specialty of Step Down nursing.
• Valid Ohio nursing license or compact state license in hand.
• Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
• Ability to float to other designated units (if needed) while maintaining care for the same patient population.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts including nights and weekends as required, accommodating the operational needs of the facility.
• Must complete an ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate assessment during orientation with acceptable scoring.

Additional Requirements

• Must be available to work at least every other holiday.
