Unit Overview

This 12-bed unit is dedicated to utilizing critical care and neuroscience principles at an intermediate level. The unit specializes in caring for patients transferring from a Neuro ICU, including those who have encountered neuro trauma, subarachnoid hemorrhages, intraventricular or intracerebral hemorrhages, as well as ENT patients undergoing cancer treatments, tumor resections, flap reconstructions, and post-operative spine patients. A wide range of neurological conditions is also managed in this specialized setting.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in accordance with established protocols and standards.
• Monitor patient progress and response to treatment, adjusting care plans as necessary.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Administer medications and perform medical procedures as prescribed.
• Educate patients and families about health conditions and care plans.
• Adhere to infection control policies and safety procedures.

Work Schedule

The position requires a commitment to night shifts, specifically 4 shifts of 12 hours each per week. The schedule includes every other weekend and every other holiday. Time off can be approved up to 40 hours.

Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
• BLS and ACLS certifications are mandatory.
• NIH stroke scale certification is required.
• Epic experience is preferred.
• Must adhere to floating policies as required.
• Applicants with a pending Virginia nursing license are encouraged to apply.

Patient Care Ratio

The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:3, ensuring adequate attention and care for each patient.
